Jim Craig has compiled detailed Covid safety guidelines which we must follow on our return to rehearsals.
It has been over a year and a half since we last rehearsed at Oakvale and I’m sure everyone will be glad to get back to some sort of normality. However, the pandemic is not over and although we expect members will have been vaccinated, we still have to take sensible precautions.
Hand sanitiser will be provided and should be used on arrival.
Windows and doors will be open to provide ventilation.
Seating will be more spaced-out than usual.
We expect individual members to take responsibility for their own safety and the well-being of others. Anyone who wishes to wear a mask or move their chair further any from others should feel free to do so and not be made to feel they are being anti-social. Similarly, if people want to shake hands or even hug, it should only be by mutual agreement. No-one should feel offended if a hug or a handshake is refused.
It is more important than ever that the attendance register should be filled in and members’ contact details are kept up to date. The society’s primary form of communication is via email, though messages will also be placed on our members’ Facebook group and occasionally text messages or WhatsApp may be used. The society is committed to the principles of data protection but is mindful that there may be occasions during a pandemic when it is more important to get information out to members rapidly.
If you develop Covid symptoms, or are notified that you have been in contact with someone with Covid, and have recently been to a rehearsal, you must let the secretary know immediately. We will then contact all members. What happens next will depend on the circumstances. We would expect members to take a test and if several members prove positive we would cancel rehearsals for an appropriate length of time. Each situation would have to be dealt with as it arises, but communication is key.
Our intention is to keep the Bentley Family safe and have a successful concert season and a great show.
