Urgent update on our April 2022 production

Today we can confirm that Bentley Operatic Society is to change its April 2022 production from Anything Goes to Made in Dagenham.

This week it was announced that the professional company of Anything Goes is set to bring its production to Liverpool the same week as our performance.

Therefore, we have decided to move our Anything Goes production to 2023 and will perform the popular British musical Made in Dagenham instead from Wednesday, April 20 until Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Rehearsals for Made in Dagenham will begin on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 and will include a short presentation about the show.

Auditions for the production will take place in December. Information on the auditions will be released very soon.

If you wish to join our new production, please email info@bentleyoperatic.co.uk for more information.

Chairman Jim Craig added: "I would urge all members of the society to rally round and support this production.

"I feel it is important for the future of the society that we put on a strong show next April and prove to everyone that we are still here and still going strong.

"So, even if you were just intending to take part in the concerts and not be in Anything Goes, please reconsider and join us for Made in Dagenham.

"I believe that once you’ve heard the music a few times you’ll really enjoy it, and I know it will be a great production and a fun show to do."

Made in Dagenham has music by David Arnold, lyrics by Richard Thomas, and a book by Richard Bean. It is based on the 2010 film of the same name, which in turn was based on the real events of the Ford sewing machinists strike of 1968.

It has a powerful story and the musical manages to be great fun while still dealing with serious and often strongly emotional issues.
